Pearls of Wisdom at Awakin Circle - Vadodara
Earlier this month, Awakin Vadodara welcomed community elders who have dedicated their entire lives to service: Mahendra dada and Bharti ba. They shared a few pearls of wisdom from their lives' journey.
About Mahendra dada and Bharti ba:
At 85 years of age, Mahendra Bhatt is vibrant and alive, with a sparkle in his eyes he will break into a song and a dance sharing deep wisdom. With 45 years of tireless service and still going strong he moves with a deep sense of surrender, a heart full of joy, and the energy of youth. On Vinoba Bhave’s advice Mahendra dada along with his wife Bharti ba and a 7-month daughter decided to walk the dusty village roads and picked Mangrol, a remote village on the banks of Narmada, as their land of action. The depth and breadth of their work is difficult to measure and describe in a few words. One can sum up his life in a few words, through the prayer “jeevan anjali thajo maru …” which means “let my life be a divine offering …”
Bharti Ba is a quiet force, much like the Narmada she has lived beside — serene on the surface, yet powerful in her depth. Without seeking attention, she draws deep respect through her presence alone. Her strength is calm, her leadership unspoken, arising not from command but from clarity and reflection.
Ba also carries the gift of storytelling — turning simple things into meaningful, transformative tales. Her presence is gentle, playful, and deeply loving. In her way of being, Ba offers the world a rare kind of leadership: one rooted in silence, service, and soul.
