KarunaNews: He Builds Houses From Invasive Seaweed And Then Gives Them Away

Some of you might remember the "Priceless Pricing" pod -- if not, check out Colin's insightful recap of the questions it raised. :)

The latest experiment is from Aurora ... "What’s the catch?"  And your answer, "There is no catch."

This is the first time I am offering my course under "Priceless Pricing" -- something I learned from ServiceSpace!  No financial contribution is required to join and participate in the six-week program. At the end of the program, you will have an opportunity to give financially any amount that feels good to you, from a little to infinity. The only requirements to join are an open heart, an open mind, the commitment to show up every week for the work, and the willingness to step into the sacred and joyful practice of deepening your own Wisdom while holding space for everyone else's.

It's a treat to see Stephen Lewis share one of his favorite quotes by Howard Thurman:

Now there is something in everybody that waits and listens for the sound of the genuine in other people... I must wait and listen for the sound of the genuine in you. I must wait. For if I cannot hear it, then in my scheme of things, you are not ever present. So as I live my life then, this is what I am trying to fulfill...that I’m secure because I hear the sound of the genuine in myself, and having learned to listen to that, I can become quiet enough, still enough to hear the sound of the genuine in you. Now if I hear the sound of the genuine in me and if you hear the sound of the genuine in you it is possible for me to go down in [my spirit] and come up in [your spirit]. So that when I look at myself through your eyes having made that pilgrimage, I see in me what you see in me. [Then] the wall that separates and divides will disappear, and we will become one because of the sound of the genuine makes the same music...There is in every person that which waits, waits, waits and listens for the sound of the genuine in herself. There is that in every person that waits—waits and listens—for the sound of the genuine in other people. And when these two sounds come together, this is the music God heard when He said, "Let us make [humanity] in our image." --Howard Thurman

This week's Awakin reading is by Geneen Marie Haugen titled 'An Ode To Imagination':

What is unique about human beings? That was the question that followed me. Other philosophers have supposed that our form of consciousness is unique among the animals, or our symbol-making ability. But I want to propose something else that may be unique to our species, and that is our ability to imagine what does not yet exist, and then to create it. As far as we know, no other species has this capacity, with which we have made violins, iPhones, Hubble telescope, nuclear weapons, space travel. I mean, we know that beavers, who must keep trimming their ever growing teeth, gnaw down trees to build dams – but they don’t seem to be building dams intended to light up Las Vegas. I want to propose that everything human beings have intentionally made, every modification to our "natural habitat", was born first in imagination. For better and worse.  The human imagination ... Seed questions for reflection: How do you relate to the notion of colonization of imagination and the need to cultivate our human capacity for imagination? Can you share a personal story of a time you became aware of a world full of intelligent ‘Others’? What helps you develop embodied awareness of ‘Others’ as alive and intelligent?
