Laddership: A Talk By Nipun Mehta
Leading With Relationships Instead Of Transactions

Nipun Mehta, Founder of Servicespace, who is visiting India from California, will be addressing the students and faculty of Inspiria Knowledge Campus, Siliguri. The theme of the talk is Laddership: Leading With Relationships Instead Of Transactions, where he will share stories and insights from 20+ years of collective global experiments in fostering this relational style of leadership in today's context.  

About Laddership: When legendary social change leader Vinoba Bhave was asked to summarize his life’s work in a sentence, he remarked “the sole purpose of all my work is to connect heart-to-heart.” Today, as our society is increasingly biased towards extrinsic levers of change: money, power, fame and technology; we have become alienated from the ancient subtler force that we were all born with -- our heart’s intelligence. We imagine leaders as people in charge, executing pathways and directing groups to new visions. However, as our world becomes more complex and connected by technology, what shifts are being called upon in our organizational and leadership models, to harness our heart’s intelligence to build radically innovative solutions for emerging catastrophic challenges today? We call that approach Laddership. 

About Nipun: As a teenager, Nipun's dream was to become a tennis pro or a Himalayan yogi. After landing a coveted Silicon Valley job in his early 20s, he soon began to question modern societal notions of happiness predicated upon accumulation and achievement. Through his own personal experiments, he began to realize that "Greed is good, but generosity is better".  Not only he ended up charting his unique middle way but much to his surprise, the ripples spread to millions, and was even applauded by the likes of Dalai Lama and President Obama. The collective movement of generosity has organically rippled into numerous online projects like DailyGood, Awakin Calls, Karmatube, peer-learning Pods; in-person events like Awakin Circles and Karma Kitchens; and Moved By Love Retreats. Most recently, their AI related experiments has been reckoned as one of the most uplifting, out-of-the-box visions in the field of AI globally. Although he serves tirelessly, what surprises people most is his unceasing smile at all times as also echoed in his mission statement: "Bring smiles in the world and stillness in my heart."
