Medicine of Flow

Starts Sep 13, 2026

Most of us have absorbed the idea that better health takes more: more discipline, optimization, and willpower.

But what if there's a different path — an effortless one? One that doesn't require pushing the body harder, but rather invites us to relax and relase into life's innate — and more powerful — capacity to repair and revitalize.

This 7-day pod explores that possibility through the lens of coherence: a physiological state in which mind, heart, and body settle into an integrated whole. In coherenc, the body heals with greater efficiency and ease; and that same ease can carry into the rest of life: how we relate, create, make decisions, and respond to the many demands and delights of being human.

This pod draws on qigong, a mind-body practice from ancient China that underlies tai chi, acupuncture, and traditional herbal medicine, along with what modern science is beginning to understand about these practices.

The result? Lasting health and vitality that emerge not by pushing harder, but by allowing life to flow better.

The spine of the week is Dr. Cynthia Li's new book The Medicine of Flow and its 7 simple steps to come into coherence — one step for each day of practice. Around that structure, we'll hear from others working in this territory: qigong teacher Sarah Tulivu, musician and sound healer Madhu Anziani. Together, we'll explore how the collective field becomes a quiet, unseen ally in your personal healing. And in the healing of the whole.

Cynthia Li

Cynthia Li  is a doctor of integrative medicine in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is also a certified teacher and workshop facilitator in qigong, which she encountered during her personal health challenges with a debilitating autoimmune condition. Her earlier work centered on public health, with a focus on HIV/AIDS and underserved communities. She served on the faculty of Rachel Naomi Remen’s Healer’s Art program at UCSF Medical School, which enables medical students to discover their sense of calling and service. She is author of two books, Brave New Medicine and The Medicine of Flow

Sarah Tulivu

Sarah Tuvilu has devoted the past 15 years to the Taoist arts of Qigong, Taiji, and Neigong, including 6 years of immersive monastic training in a Tao Temple. Her own journey into these practices began while working in humanitarian conflict zones, where she experienced firsthand how deeply our inner state shapes the way we meet life's challenges and one another. After leaving the monastery at the encouragement of her teachers—to "make the world her temple"—Sarah has been sharing these practices through retreats and workshops that weave together contemplative wisdom, embodied presence, and compassionate service. She is especially interested in how inner cultivation naturally flowers into action in the world and service.

Sarah Tulivu

Pavi Mehta is a writer and poet who documented her granduncle Dr. V's revolutionary work in the award-winning book and film Infinite Vision, revealing how Aravind Eye Care became the world's largest provider of sight-restoring surgery by treating millions for free. The deeper question continued to guide her: what systems might we design if we trusted people's innate generosity? She co-founded Karma Kitchen, a pay-it-forward pop-up restaurant, and has been long-time anchored several other Servicespace projects including Dailygood and Awakin Calls.
