Mystical Music Pod
Starts Feb 19, 2022!
Just beyond my sight, something that I cannot see,
I've been circling around a thought that's been circling round me.
Like the vapor of a song that is just out of earshot,
And I thought I knew the question, but I guess not
There it is just below the surface of things

Time and time again, music has opened our hearts, healed our spirits and transformed us in ways that are hard to express.
On February 19th, we're delighted to dive into a week-long pod on mystical music, through the songs and spirit of Carrie Newcomer.
Singer, songwriter, performer and educator Carrie Newcomer has been described as "a soaring songstress" by Billboard, a "prairie mystic" by the Boston Globe, and Rolling Stone has declared that she "asks all the right questions." Apart from her 19 solo CD's as well as Grammy and Emmy awards, Krista Tippett notes that Carrie is "best known for her story-songs that get at the raw and redemptive edges of human reality." As a committed Quaker, Carrie adds, "My songwriting has always had a spiritual current to it. There's a spiritual current in my life, so there is in my work. Otherwise, I'd be censoring something important."
From ancient hymns to modern-day raps, music has always been an integral beat in the human spirit. How do vibrations of song shape horizons of human experience? What resides in the space between notes? How can music serve the greater good? Beyond entertainment, when does creative expression transcend into transformation?
To collectively explore the nuances of the mystical side of music, we are hosting a one-week virtual immersion, a collective exploration with like-minded friends from across the globe, coming together with the shared intention of being the change we wish to see in the world, in ways that are both personal and systemic.
During this week-long pod with Carrie, we will ...
- Listen to a daily song and engage in a daily practice around it.
- Share daily reflections on creativity-inspiring prompts, and connect with each other through that process. For a typical podmate, this will take 30-60 minutes per day.
- Engage in video calls: Orientation Call (Feb 19th, 8AM Pacific Time), an optional "Songs with Carrie" evening, and Closing Call (Feb 26th, 8AM Pacific Time).
- Support the emergence! Who knows what mystery reveals itself when many open hearted, music-loving folks come together? :)
Through the seed of music, we hope to nurture a garden of heart connections that allows the harvest of our virtue to regenerate in our lives.
