Day 0
Noble Friendships
Starts Jun 6, 2021!
The Buddha's attendant, Ananda, once remarked, "Half of the holy life is noble friends: companionship with the good, association with the good." To which, the Buddha responded, "Do not say so, Ananda. It is the whole of holy life."
In an era of social networks and cheapening friendships, how do we recognize and cultivate deeper connections? What exactly is noble and how do we cultivate that degree of friendship? On the path of inner transformation, how is our resiliency supported by a web of relationships, such that Buddha would call it the whole of the holy life? How do we distinguish between traditional and noble kinship?
Join us for a 2-week pod, from June 6-20, dedicated to cultivating these four virtues with two Buddhist monks -- Jin-Chuan Shi and Jin-Wei Shi from DRBU! Each day will include "head" readings and videos, "hands" practices, and "heart" reflections. In addition to the orientation and final call, we will have optional calls with guided meditations and discussions for those who want to dive deeper.
If you're unfamiliar with ServiceSpace Pod Process, it comes alive at the intersection of three intersecting spheres: (a) inspiring content: the Pod will feature uniquely curated readings, practices, and case studies around our theme; (b) many-to-many context: an innovative and non-commercial Pod Technology enables a multi-dimensional container to weave the whole beyond the sum of its parts; (c) skillful anchoring: volunteers holding this pod are well versed in the art of 'laddership'.
If you are moved to explore these questions in such a context, with like-hearted friends from around the globe, we invite you to join this co-creative circle!
