Awakin Talks

You are invited to an evening of stories and song, around how varied change-makers have discovered that "still, small voice" and lived into their calling!

Perched at the forks on our life paths, we are often called to make choices between safe harbors and stormy seas, immediate benefit and long-term good, what is dear and what is right, what is good for us and what is good for others, and so on. In a world overloaded with information and stimuli, decision-making becomes increasingly difficult. While most of us rely on external data and modern technologies, many pioneering leaders frequently cite a very ancient toolkit -- intuition of the heart. Says Gandhi, "There come to us moments in life when about some things we need no proof from without. A little voice within us tells us, 'You are on the right track, move neither to your left nor right, but keep to the straight and narrow way.'"

On Saturday Nov 25th @ 5:30 pm, changemakers and pilgrims come together to share stories of how this subtle-yet-significant inner voice guided the trajectory of their life! Among the inspiring speakers are ...

  • Ashish Shalini Shrivastava: an engineer, TFI fellow, ex-Infosys, co-founder of Shiksharth - a nonprofit working in the education space for tribal kids
  • Sonia Mackwani: a film-maker, social entrepreneur, writer, healer and founder of Touching Lives
  • Biren Bhuta: a servant leader at Disom, ex-CSR chief at Tata Steel, ex-banker at StanC and ex-journalist at NDTV, MBA from IIM-Kolkata
  • Shankar Mugalkhod (Anna): Born in a red light area of Kamathipura , childhood at Baba Amte ashram, Samaritan to the dying, homeless and sex workers

Collectively, we'll be reflecting on questions like -- what is this deeper guidance, and how do we connect with it? When our "flow with your heart" responses are propelled by our unconscious biases, what practices reconnect us to that place of universal goodness? Along the way, how do we differentiate the ego's voice from the heart's voice? If, as Einstein noted, problems can't be solved from the same level of consciousness that created them, could tuning into our inner voice offer a bridge for discerning our deeper work in the world?

All Awakin Talks gatherings are offered as a labor of love by volunteers who are grateful for the opportunity to serve. There is no charge to attend. And we are grateful to Ashiyana Community for opening their doors for this heartful gathering.
