About This Event

Kindred spirits from 39+ countries — who have never been in a room together — are about to step into a shared inquiry on what it means to live a New Story. This call is where it begins.

New Story gathering Our opening gathering on June 7th is more than an orientation. It's a ceremonial beginning — a shared threshold where we ground the inquiry, meet one another, and consciously step into the 21-day journey ahead. One story a day, together.

Over the three weeks, the commons will also gather with guests like author and former professor Brian Conroy who has spent 40-years writing, telling and inspiring stories, and Bronson Chang who is currently amidst a profound transition from a multi-generational shaved-ice business in Hawaii.  Plus songs, silence, and much more!

What to expect

Some inspiring invocations of the spirit, a few story-voices from the pod, time to meet one another, orientation around how the daily prompts will unfold, a fun surprise from the volunteers — and more, as we cross the threshold into our first week together.

It's been deeply moving to read what brought each of you here. We are climate scientists and grain farmers, lifelong meditators and microbrewers, nurses with fifty years on the floor and nineteen-year-olds who simply felt drawn, poets in the UK and meerkat-keepers in the Red Kalahari, ex-defence officers and ecstatic dancers, homemakers whose children teach them to question old beliefs, and elders-in-training learning to attune to the sounds of the genuine.

Collectively, we are setting down old stories and stepping into new ones. We have woken after being resuscitated, without a leg, and chosen to be glad we woke at all. We have met a cancer diagnosis and watched love become “my guide, my healing, my purpose.” We have grown up among orange and olive groves in the hills of southern Spain, falling asleep to the sound of goat bells. We have come home from a brutal first marriage and built a life again from the ground up. We have farmed the field of “Outrageous Love” in Saskatchewan, and taught how to decarbonize whole cities at MIT. We have learned from horses “how to be my best human,” and from our own daughters how to question what we'd always believed. At 86 we are still discovering our creative side; at 19 we are just beginning. We are writers far from where we were born who know that none of these labels are really who we are — and elders attuning, as one of us put it, “to the sounds of the genuine among all Life.”

Imagine what unfolds when all of these stories find one another. :)
